In August Diane carried out this year’s Big Butterfly Count, with help from her daughter, son in law and grandson.

As expected there were lots of Small White, Green-veined White, and Gatekeeper. We also spotted a few Meadow Brown, but to our surprise we didn’t see a single Red Admiral, though there are lots of these pretty butterflies in our garden at Risbury Court.

Counting these beautiful insects was quite challenging with them fluttering from one wild flower to the next, but it was lovely to see so many flourishing in the habitat that Humber Woodland provides.
