Following the wettest winter on record, we are grateful that Humber Woodland stands on high ground and is very free-draining, so we don’t have to worry about flooding. Dismal as the weather has been, at least now we can look forward to some sunshine to warm the backs of our new-born lambs and calves. Lambing is almost over for another year and calving is progressing well, so there is quite a lot of staying up late and getting up early to check our animals.
The sun, and the moisture in the soil, will also help any freshly planted wild flowers to settle in and grow on well, so we are looking forward to our SPRING PLANTING DAY on 2nd April this year. We hope many of our Humber Woodland families will be able to join us for tea or coffee and choose some wild flowers to plant on their loved ones’ graves. Our local nursery, Plantwild, will bring a selection of native wild flower plants, so everyone should be able to find something they like.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
